Thoughts and Ideas

Wedding Costs are Spiraling

I am fortunate to be a part of many beautiful weddings.

Recent article in “The Knot” talks about how expensive weddings have become.  The average wedding 12 years ago was about $16,000.  Today, the average wedding is $35,000!  I certainly understand what a BIG day this is and how everything should be just right to memorialize this moment for ever.  However, if you have to go into debt to finance your wedding, perhaps this is not the best way to start a marriage.

Here are some tips you might want to consider if you want a beautiful wedding without spending a fortune.

  • 1.  Set a realistic budget and stick to it.

  • 2.  Give yourself a lot of time to plan your wedding.  There is a lot of preparation and coordination neccessary

  • 3.  You are going to wear that beautiful wedding dress one time.  Does it have to cost $3,000?  There are a lot of places where you can find wedding dressses inexpensively.  A bride we recently met had a full length dazzling beaded wedding gown and looked like a million bucks.  She bought the wedding dress at Savers for $250.00.

  • 4.  DJ, Ceremony Music, Photographers, Videographers – all wonderful to have but shop around.  The cheapest is not always the best but be sure you are getting what you are going to pay for.

  • 5.  Wedding Planner.  A wedding planner sure can make things easier and help you plan the perfect wedding.  Maybe you have a girlfriend that would do this for you and you can compensate her for her efforts.  Who knows what you like better than her!

  • 6.  Bridemaids and Groomsmen  Matching outfits and coordinated colors to match the wedding theme.  How many… etc.  It is difficult because you want all your besties to be in the wedding, but dont go broke trying to include everyone.  We were recently at a wedding with 9 bridesmaids and groomsmen.  Dont forget you have to buy a gift for all of these people.

  • 7.  Venue is an important consideration as it is the backdrop to your wedding.  I have seen simple weddings in the mountains to lavish weddings at the Bellagio.  know what is most important to you and spend your money there and skimp a little in the other areas.

  • 8.  Cocktail hour and Reception.  Cocktail hour is important for your guests while you have photos taken to capture this perfect event.  Don’t offer Open Bar.  Reception dinner is always a nice touch and fun for everyone – if it is in your budget.   If not, consider a more relaxed venue and appetizers.

  • 9.  How big is your wedding invitation list?  Do you really need to invite aunt Beth that you haven’t seen or talked to in 8 years.  The size of your wedding is greatly going to dictate the cost of your wedding.  Typically we see 20 to 35 guests.  Some are 120 to 250 guests.  Depends on your budget.

  • 10.  Honeymoon.  I have seen wedding couples spend so much on their wedding that they cant afford the honeymoon they wanted.  This is a shame.  The wedding lasts 20 minutes and 4 hours or so –  your special day with your family and friends is over.  A nice honeymoon goes on for days and can cement the new journey you and your spouse have set upon together.

Weddings are about commitment and memories.  Make yours realistic and memorial.

My Motherland

My Russia, Росси́я

Russia is the world’s largest nation, Russia borders European and Asian countries as well as the Pacific and Arctic oceans. Russia spans eleven time zones and is about 6,592,000 square miles with over 146 million people.

While we can trace the beginnings of Russia back to early BC,  Ivan "the terrible" is considered by most historians as having founded the Russian state, in the late 14th century. He was the first Tsar to be proclaimed "Tsar of All Russia"

Russia's landscape ranges from tundra and forests to subtropical beaches. It’s famous for Moscow's Bolshoi and St. Petersburg's Mariinsky ballet companies. St. Petersburg, founded by Russian leader Peter the Great, has the baroque Winter Palace, now housing part of the State Hermitage Museum’s art collection.

We Russians are fiercly patriotic and love our Motherland.  Our people are inteligent and passionate.  While we still have struggles we must deal with in our homeland, we are use to such challenges and accept them with humor and resolute.

We Russians like the American People and their way of life.  While we don't always agree politically, we love the fashion, style and friendlyness of Americans.

Las Vegas Violinist is usually in great demand for the holidays. There are lots of parties, weddings now that there is cooler weather and corporate gatherings.

Adding violin or duet, trio or quartet to your next event will add that special touch that people will remember and talk about for months to come!

Call me, Terry Barone and lets discuss how “Las Vegas Violinist” can add that special touch you are looking for.

Beautiful Violin

The beautiful sound from a violin is not only attributed to the talent of the violinist but the instrument she plays.

Why does a Stradivarius violin cost millions?  The name “Stradivarius” has become a superlative often associated with excellence; to be called “the Stradivari” of any field is to be deemed the finest there is.

Combine a wonderful violinist with an old, well crafted violin and you have musical magic!

Tatiana’s violin is about 200 years old.  The sound from this instrument is amazing in Tatiana’s hands.

Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving

The American tradition of Thanksgiving is nice holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

I never experienced eating turkey before coming to America.  This year Terry has invited all his family to have dinner with us.  I am happy my husband is good cook because for me to cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner would be almost impossible!  Better I serve borsch soup, vodka and Russian salad!  But that would not be American.

We have so much to be thankful for and to take time out to gather family together, to be grateful for all life has given us at such special occasion is best.

I wish all my friends, family and clients a warm “Happy Thanksgiving”  in English and Russian!

Halloween

The Holidays are almost here!

SMILE!

SMILE!

There will be lots of smiles on the faces of small children and lots of parties and shopping ahead.

Being from Russia, Halloween is a strange holiday that Americans celebrate.  I am not sure what’s the meaning of Halloween?

In Russia we have a lot of holidays and we always look for a reason to celebrate life, love, good fortune and happiness!  I think it is same here.

I am available for Parties!  Improve your holiday with violinist for your party.

BOO!

BOO!
